Council leader supports COP26, signs zero carbon pledge
Eden District Council Leader, Virginia Taylor, will be joining up to 30,000 residents, businesses and climate experts in attending COP26: The twenty-sixth UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties.
The much-anticipated conference sees heads of state, climate experts and campaigners unite to discuss and agree actions to combat climate change.
Those with tickets are able to attend the ‘Green Zone’ in Glasgow Science Centre, where over 200 events will be taking place during the conference, between Sunday 31 October to Friday 12 November.
If you weren’t able to get tickets, you can also join in virtually by subscribing to the COP26 YouTube channel.
The conference comes in the month that Cllr Virginia Taylor, Leader of Eden District Council, joined 87 other leaders of local government across the country in signing up to the NGO UK100 Net Zero Pledge.
Cllr Taylor said, “I’m delighted that Eden District Council is joining the UK100 network and that we will be part of the only association of Local Authorities across the UK committed to bringing each constituent council’s emissions to Net-Zero by 2030.
