NHS launches wellbeing taster sessions for Bridport and Lyme Regis locals
Lockdowns, restrictions and hardship have contributed to a major increase in mental health issues during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many people have struggled to cope and find it hard to discuss their problems and are unsure where to turn for help.
That’s why Steps 2 Wellbeing, a free NHS mental health service provided by Dorset Healthcare, has launched a series of webinars to let people know more about the support that is available.
The hour-long webinar is a live session led by NHS therapists and provides a basic introduction to the symptoms of anxiety and depression, handy wellbeing tips and information on how people can refer themselves to Steps 2 Wellbeing.
Clive Whaley, NHS Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, said: “The webinar is suited to people who may have some concerns about their mental health but are not sure what treatment might involve or whether they are ready for it right now.
“Afterwards there is the option just to take on board the information and wellbeing advice for future reference or to make a referral to our service.”
Despite one in four adults suffering from a mental health problem during their lifetime, asking for help or information can feel daunting. In response, these webinars are anonymous with no need to turn on cameras or microphones.
The webinars run on the first Monday of each month 6-7pm.
