Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 preorder window is closing fast, and the deals available before the phones’ 7 August launch are meaningfully better than what buyers can expect on release day. Trade-in values have already started falling.
Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 at its Unpacked event on 22 July 2026 in London, according to PhoneArena. Both foldables went on sale immediately for preorder, with availability confirmed from 7 August.

Amazon’s offer was the standout of the preorder period: a free $350 gift card bundled with either device, requiring no trade-in, no carrier contract, and no sign-up, Forbes reported. That offer ended on 6 August, the day before shipments began.
Samsung’s own site offered up to $1,200 in trade-in credit during the preorder window, plus an additional $100 off via the code PAYPAL100 at checkout. Carrier deals went further still, with bill credits of up to $1,900 available to buyers who locked their device to a network at Samsung’s checkout.
The gap between preorder and release-day pricing is real. As of 7 August, Samsung.com cut trade-in values by up to $200: the Galaxy Z Fold 7, for example, dropped from $1,200 to $1,000 in Samsung trade-in credit. Best Buy held its $1,200 trade-in value and added a $200 gift card, making it the stronger option on release day, according to 9to5Google.
Amazon also ran a separate trade-in promotion. CNET reported that Amazon offered an additional $300 on top of a device’s estimated trade-in value for the Fold 8 Ultra, bringing the total trade-in credit to up to $1,000, and an additional $200 for the standard Fold 8, up to $600 total.
The deepest discount on the standard Fold 8 came from stacking Samsung’s trade-in and the PAYPAL100 code. The 256GB Galaxy Z Fold 8, priced at $1,899.99, could be reduced to as low as $599.99 by combining the $1,200 trade-in with the $100 promotional code, according to Droid Life. The 512GB and 1TB models are priced at $2,099.99 and $2,499.99 respectively.
During the preorder window, The Verge noted that Best Buy and Samsung offered up to $200 in gift cards on top of trade-in deals, compared with Amazon’s $350, reinforcing Amazon’s edge for buyers without an eligible trade-in device.
What the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra Actually Delivers
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99, a $100 increase over the Galaxy Z Fold 7, per PhoneArena. Its inner display measures 8.0 inches with a resolution of 2,256 x 2,504 pixels at roughly 422 ppi, a Foldable Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel running at 120Hz, with HDR10+ support and 3,000 nits peak brightness. The cover display is 6.5 inches, according to GSMArena.
Under the hood sits a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, the same processor used in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. The 1TB model ships with 16GB of RAM exclusively.
Battery capacity is 5,000 mAh, with 45W wired charging (reaching 67% in 30 minutes), 20W wireless via Qi2.2, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. The device weighs 215g and measures 4.1mm thick when unfolded. Samsung promises up to seven major Android OS updates, with the phone launching on Android 17. It comes in Graphite, Cream, and Violet Shadow colourways.
