Carlisle events 2022 programme

An additional £30,000 has been set aside in Carlisle City Council’s budget to support The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Carlisle.

The budget, agreed on Tuesday 1 February, included extra funding to pay towards Jubilee celebrations planned for the city including an event planned in Bitts Park on Sunday 5 June.

The Jubilee celebrations are part of the council’s overall events programme for 2022. The programme will see the return of the Fireshow and Christmas Lights Switch-On as well as other popular events including the City of Lights and open-air markets. Dates for diaries include:

  • Thursday 14 – Monday 18 April – Easter International Market in the city centre.
  • Sunday 5 June – The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in Bitts Park.
  • Thursday 9 – Sunday 12 June – Hawker Festival in the city centre.
  • Friday 22 July – Olly Murs concert in Bitts Park.
  • Saturday 23 July – Paloma Faith concert in Bitts Park.
  • Sunday 24 July – Tom Jones concert in Bitts Park.
  • Saturday 13 August – Fake Festival in Bitts Park.
  • Thursday 25 – Monday 29 August – Carlisle Summer International Market in the city centre.
  • Friday 21 – Sunday 23 October – City of Lights in Carlisle Cathedral, Tullie House Gardens and Carlisle Castle (linking in with the Hadrian’s Wall 1900 Festival).
  • Saturday 5 November – Fireshow in Bitts Park.
  • Sunday 20 November – Carlisle Christmas Lights Switch-On in the city centre.

“Coronavirus has impacted on our programme of events over the last few years but now that restrictions have been eased, we can put in place plans for the upcoming year. Carlisle is renowned for hosting high quality events and we look forward to welcoming our local communities and visitors to the city’s events in 2022.”
