Changes to garden waste collection service – deadline to sign up extended to 1 June
We recognise that the original deadline was too short – and to ensure everyone has enough time to make the transition, the deadline to sign-up has been extended to 1 June 2022. We apologise for the inconvenience.
Subscribers who plan to renew should continue to present their garden waste in the normal way and it will continue to be collected between now and the deadline for registering.
The extended deadline is designed to ensure signing up to the service is as easy and simple as possible for all.
We are changing the way that people sign-up for collections as part of the council’s ongoing commitment to improve our services. Under the new system of signing up, invoices will not be sent out this year and if you previously paid by direct debit, this will be cancelled, and no payments will be taken.
If you would like your garden waste collection service to continue, you need to sign up and make payment for the 2022/23 service year which runs from Friday 1 April to 31 March .
To ensure you do not experience any interruptions to your service, and to benefit from the maximum number of collections throughout the year, please sign up and make payment by extended deadline date of 1 June. In the meantime, your garden waste will continue to be collected up until the payment deadline date. This will stop if payment has not been made by then.
It is quick and easy to sign up and pay online via the council’s My Account customer portal. Simply go to www.ealing.gov.uk/myaccount to register or sign into your existing account and complete the garden waste collection service form.
The service costs £82.07 and the annual payment is required when you sign up. There is no longer an option to pay by direct debit or by quarterly instalment.
If you are aged 65 or over, or in receipt of means tested benefits you qualify for a discounted annual fee of £62.79. If this applies to you, you will be asked to submit evidence during the sign-up process.
Going forward, the new service will not renew automatically. Reminders will be sent in March 2023 and if you would like to continue receiving the service, you will be directed to pay the annual fee.
