Keeping Cheltenham moving! – Gloucestershire County Council
The A435 Evesham Road will be resurfaced overnight from Monday 6 June as part of the county council’s further £100 million investment into Gloucestershire’s roads.
Evesham Road, the popular street that splits Pittville Park in two, will be resurfaced from Cheltenham racecourse roundabout to the Clarence Road junction.
The road will be closed overnight from Monday 6 June to Monday 20 June.
To help keep disruption to a minimum, work will take place between 7pm – 7am (excluding Saturday and Sunday nights).
Your highways crews will complete vital resurfacing works along the 11,940 square metres stretch of road with 1,418 tonnes of material.
Cllr Dominic Morris, cabinet member for highways, said: “As part of our further £100m investment, we are continuing to invest in our local roads and keep our county moving. Evesham Road is a key route into Cheltenham, with hundreds of vehicle movements everyday.
“These essential improvements will create a smooth pothole free journey for all road users, and by carrying out this work at night, our crews will keep disruption to a minimum.”
Cllr Stephan Fifield, county councillor for Pittville and Prestbury, said: “Evesham Road is a busy route and the resurfacing is going to have a significant benefit for the local community here in Pittville. I know this work will cause some people delays; however our crews will carry out the resurfacing overnight and as quickly as possible. I’d like to thank local residents and road users for their patience.”
