Steve Bannon criticized former President Donald TrumpFriday, for spending too much time social media and not enough time in policy battles Newsweek reported.
Trump’s ex adviser said that “You have to get off of the Truth”, presumably referring to Truth Social, per Newsweek.
Bannon was speaking on an episode his podcast “War Room” to discuss the negotiations regarding the “omnibus” spending bill that would fund federal agencies up until September 30, 2023 if it is passed.
Democrats want to pass an additional $1.5 trillion bill by December 16, when the current government funding runs out. However, some Republicans are not happy with the high costs.
Reuters reportedCalifornia Rep. Kevin McCarthy, Republican nominee for Speaker of the House in the future, has been pushing for spending reductions. According to Reuters, Republican Senator Richard Shelby from Alabama stated earlier this week that Democrats and Republicans are approximately $25 billion apart in negotiations.
Former Trump advisor Bannon stated that the bill would “kill off the economy” and suggested that his boss would be better off focusing his attention on the policy battle than spending his time messaging on Truth Social.
“The president and Mara-Lago have to get the game up. You have to improve. According to Newsweek, it’s just not enough. “I hate being so brutally honest, we’re fighting to protect the country. You must get off the Truth. You have to engage in these battles here right now. It sets the stage to your second term.
Bannon made the statement to Newsweek that Trump should “go full-in to defeat” by focusing his attention on several conservative priorities.
Insider reached out to Bannon’s podcast team, but did not receive a response immediately.
Trump founded Truth Social on October 20, 2021 after he was banned by Twitter and Facebook for the Capitol riot of January 6, 2021. It was launched in February 2022. Since then, the former President has used it. to share QAnon posts, peddle false election fraud claims, attack the FBI over their search of Mar-a-Lago.
