United Flight to Houston is Hit by Strong Turbulence. 5 Taken to Hospital

Officials said that five people were taken to the hospital following extreme turbulence during a flight from Brazil, Houston.

Insider was told by United Airlines that three crew members and two passengers sustained minor injuries after Monday’s landing.

“United flight 128 experienced unexpected turbulence while on its way to Houston,” a statement by the airline stated.

“Upon arrival, three crewmembers and two passengers were met by medical personnel. They were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.”

CNN reported that Flight 128 was traveling from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. It landed at 5.21 am. according to flight tracking website FlightRadar 24.

United Airlines stated that they are grateful to their crew for their efforts in ensuring the safety of customers and employees.

Turbulence that is severe enough to cause serious injury is rare, however, it does happen.

Multiple people were also hurt on Sunday’s Hawaiian Airlines Flight 35 from Phoenix, Arizona, to Honolulu (Hawaii). Honolulu Emergency Medical Services said at least 36 people were injured, with 11 of those having serious injuries.

Hawaiian Airlines confirmed to InsiderAccording to reports, the plane experienced turbulence just before landing in Hawaii. Thirteen passengers and three crew were taken to hospital. More people were treated for minor injuries at the airport.
